Calabash Area Attractions & Information

Calabash (named for the unusually shaped indigenous calabash gourds used to carry drinking water) is a quaint fishing village located in Brunswick County at the southern most part of North Carolina.

Calabash docks slideshow Known for its unique style of fried seafood, Calash is often referred to as the "Seafood Capital of the World". With over 30 seafood restaurants, this quaint postcard town is where fishing boats unload fresh seafood among the moss draped oak trees.

Located on the waterfront of the namesake Calabash River, the town maintains its traditional southern atmosphere with tree lined streets and a Village Square where local activities take place.

Some of the areas biggest attractions are just down the road from this border town. Little River, Ocean Isle, North Myrtle Beach and Myrtle Beach are just a few of the premier destinations for family fun, entertainment, shopping and dining.
